Palmerston Newspaper Timeline
Palmerston Progress – Approximately 1874 – was likely the first newspaper in the community
Palmerston Telegraph – started in 1879 as the Palmerston Telegraph and Wellington and Perth Gazette, changed to the Telegraph in 1882. Owned by James Proctor and Bros. Editor J.T. Lacey
Palmerston Reporter – 1892-1902 operated by the Croll Brothers.
Palmerston Spectator – 1897 owned by William Schiefle, Purchased by J.D. Harkness in 1902 who merged it with the Reporter. Closed in 1929/30
Palmerston News – only reference is that it was over Lyla Burns and George Wrights building.
Palmerston Vindicator – owned by J.T. Mitchell, sometime around 1901.
Palmerston Observer – 1933 to 1999
Minto Express – 2000 to present
